I'm a Happy Hooker!

I've finally worked out crochet. I'd been practising the single chain, and had that down okay, so thought I should try some new stitches. I decided to teach myself crochet in the same way I taught myself knitting - decide on a project and just teach myself each stitch or technique as it comes up. I used the beautiful blue bamboo yarn from Egeria. I am making the cute clutch In bloom from Debbie Stoller's Happy Hooker. And I got it! I understand what I'm doing, there is no stopping me now. Crocheting is also much easier on my eyes, so I am enjoying it at the moment.

And a close up of the stitch (which is a half-double crochet).

I also started a bag from the Knit'n Style February 2006 agazine Leon got me for my birthday. It's quite cute, using short rows to make a circular shape and will be felted, though I like the look of it unfelted so we'll see.

I'm using some Puppy yarn I bought in Japan, just waiting for the perfect project to use it in. The colours are so gorgeous, it is quite dark, but has beautiful, vivid colours throughout.

The crochet is coming along really well. I find it grows a lot quicker than knitting.

I love the circular bag, the colours in the yarn are really pretty. I like the way it looks unfelted too.

First, I shall congratulate you on your crocheting. I have struggled doing more than a single crochet or the picot stitch. Good for you!

I LOVE the 1/2 circle bag. That just rocks!

Golly that Japanese yarn is amazing! I am also gradually broaching crochet, I have a crochet class at John Lewis tomorrow with Anne and Suzanne too. I hope I'm as confident as you by the end of it!

That yarn is fantastic! I'm anxious to see the finished product.

Maybe I shouldn't give up on crochet. It seems so awkward not to have two needles in my hands, though.

I love that Puppy yarn! I'm going to Puppy in Shimokitazawa the first weekend of July; do you happen to remember what the name of that type is? I love how it knits up!
